The story of the mini bottles started in 1961, when Christian was only 7 years old. From his father he received the very first mini bottle - an empty bottle of Gordon's Dry Gin. This gift was to be the start of what later evolved into a unique museum, a playground and a universe that we have not seen before
Christian's great great-grandfather established the venerable Ringnes Brewery in 1877, and perhaps the interest in bottles can be traced back to him. Combined with being a true collector and having a father who traveled a lot Christian gradually expanded his collection over the years. With a sense of being organized Christian registered every single bottle in the "bottle book for Ivar Aasens vei 28". Together with Christian's first mini bottle the notebook is one of the museum's dearest asset today.
1996 was the year Christian purchased the Kirkegata 10, an ideal location for big dreams in the middle of Oslo's museum district. Four years later, the design of the museum began, and in May 2003 The Mini Bottle Gallery opened its doors to the world, and the childhood dream had come true.
The mini bottle universe lives on and has since the opening grown even more complex and exciting. All our visitors and guests can enjoy the surprising grandiosity and wonderful collection and displays of the gallery.
